Gigi McMurray

Gigi McMurray recently completed Dovehouse Ministries’ three-year training program in Ignatian Spiritual Direction. A family nurse practitioner and story coach, she brings a unique blend of faith, science, creativity, and compassion to her work with others.

Gigi met Jesus at the age of 10 at summer camp and continues to treasure rising early each morning to spend time with Him. She finds great joy in journeying with people through suffering and trauma, helping them notice His light and presence in the midst of their stories.

For 30 years, Gigi has served as a family nurse practitioner in a wide variety of settings—from running a clinic on top of a mountain in remote Honduras to teaching at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and eventually starting her own clinic. Her lifelong curiosity about science began when Santa brought her a microscope as a child and continues today through her fascination with the intersection of spirituality and neuroscience.

Gigi also completed two years of training in narrative-focused trauma care with Dr. Dan B. Allender. This approach explores stories of harm from childhood and the ways they continue to shape us, even informing our calling. She has led story groups and retreats and loves bringing her passions for story, science, and faith together in her work as a spiritual director.

Gigi has been married to Matt for 35 years and is a mother of three sons and grandmother to two grandsons. Ruby, her yellow lab and service dog, joined the family last year. Gigi is also a writer and abstract artist who finds great joy in creativity and beauty.
